Here at Five Star Group, we have our own range of bulk unloading and loading equipment. These are secured inside the Port of Colombo allowing us to easily conduct the unloading and loading to lorries of imported material in record time. 3 state of the art bulk 10 Mt unloading grabs as shown in the picture are able to scoop up material with 100% efficiency thus eliminating any wastage. Coupled with our 3 custom built 20 MT bulk hoppers, we can ensure the cleanest unloading.
This enables us to cut down costs and pass this on to our customers through lower than market prices.
With a fleet of over 300 customized containers, we are able to unload and deliver the materials imported within the hour. This helps us unload any vessel no matter the tonnage well under the time frame provided.
The rates we provide include everything ranging from the cost of the material, all modes of transport until goods are reached to the end user and all taxes incurred. Unlike our competition there are no hidden fees and we guarantee that.
Backed by the support of the largest poultry producers in the country we are able to thrive and pass down our bulk savings in the form of lower prices. We are proud to state that since the year of operation, over 50% of all imported grains required by local feed millers was through us.
Bulk Vessels Imported By Five Star Grain Solutions
2018
In the year of 2018, the Sri Lankan government gave out tenders for the importation of 40,000 MT of corn to cover up the shortage in the country. Another 20,000 MT worth of import permits were given out on non tender basis.
Five Star Grain Solutions (PVT) LTD was able to win this tender and the non tender permits and import the highest quality corn at the lowest possible price. Amaropa Romania was the supplier on this venture.
The 60,000 MT of corn was imported in two bulk vessels, each of 30,000 MT. These were unloaded and supplied to our customers in record time due to the efficiency of our fully automated leak proof grabs and other logistical capabilities.
2020
In the year of 2020, there was a major drop in the local supply of maize. The yearly requirement of maize for the production of animal feed is approx. 500,000 MT. But only a mere half of that could be supplied to. Therefore under the newly elected government, the local feed millers were permitted to import feed grade wheat as a substitute to battle the shortage.
Out of the permitted import quantity, Five Star Grain Solutions was handed the opportunity to import over 75% of the quota. This was a possibility due to the immense trust our local feed millers have in our capability.
The first bulk vessel imported, carried a record breaking 65,000MT of feed wheat from Russia in the vessel CP Chongquing. This is the largest bulk vessel to arrive at Sri Lanka to date. It was unloaded and departed in 13 days, at a discharge speed of 5000 MT per day with zero waste.
The second bulk vessel imported, carried a total of 27,000 MT of feed wheat from India in the vessel Propell Progress. This vessel was discharged and departed in a mere 5 days with a discharge speed over 5000 MT Per day with zero waste.
